A leading industrial machinery manufacturer is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer II to join their Quality Team.
Supplier Quality Engineers (SQEs) ensure suppliers meet quality standards, drive root cause analysis and corrective actions for vendor issues, and communicate updates to stakeholders. They monitor recurring issues to ensure effective countermeasures and support ISO audits by conducting internal audits and updating business processes.
The Supplier Quality Engineer II will have the following responsibilities:
- Build long-term supplier relationships and implement cost-saving initiatives.
- Assist Manufacturing in evaluating and qualifying new supplier materials and parts.
- Support supplier performance improvement projects, including process analysis, value stream mapping, Six Sigma, 5S, and Kaizen events.
- Effectively analyze and resolve manufacturing and assembly issues.
- Maintain the supplier rating system, initiate corrective actions for non-compliance, and report causes.
- Conduct random audits of work instructions, process control sheets, and test procedures; initiate corrective actions and report results.
- Analyze corrective action activities from audits and reviews, and report trends and results monthly.
- Drive corrective actions for field failures with urgency and teamwork.
- Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through designated channels.
- Verify the implementation of solutions.
The ideal Supplier Quality Engineer II candidate will have the following skillset:
- Minimum of 2 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering.
- Experience with SAP ERP.
- Proficiency in department software, including CAD programs, Office products, SAP, and specialized tools like GageTrak and Q-Plus.
- Familiarity with quality system methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why's, Pareto Analysis, Six Sigma, DFMEA, PFMEA, and PPAP.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams
