A leading aerospace manufacturer is seeking an experienced Director of Quality to lead the Quality team.
This individual will develop and manage a quality assurance program to ensure the ongoing production of products that meet established standards throughout the Business Unit (BU). They will ensure that processes, products, and services delivered to customers comply with customer, regulatory, and company requirements throughout all phases of the product lifecycle.
The Director of Quality will have the following responsibilities:
- Provide expert knowledge on regulatory and customer requirements.
- Support continuous improvement by optimizing processes and organization, aligning with operational excellence goals, and adhering to Company and Branch/Division Quality policies and strategies.
- Develop the Quality Network within the BU and support the Group, Branch, and Division Quality Networks.
- Deploy quality targets.
- Promote, support, and coach QRQC and Company Problem Solving within the BU.
- Ensure, with broad and independent authority, that all products and quality processes meet or exceed regulatory requirements and customer expectations.
- When quality levels are insufficient to meet customer expectations, infringe on aviation regulations, or involve safety concerns, and if the BU has not made the appropriate decision:
- Stop deliveries and propose or decide on the recall of already delivered products.
- Limit or suspend the use of a supplier.
- Freeze program quality gates.
- Communicate with Management regarding Quality topics, including quality crises, alerts, and compliance risks.
- Ensure compliance with customer, regulatory, and Company requirements.
The ideal Director of Quality candidate will have the following skillset:
- Bachelor's Degree required. Engineering, Quality, or similar technical field of study a plus
- 7+ years in Supervision/Management of Quality Assurance Operations
- Working knowledge of AS9100 and FAA regulations
- Direct contact with FAA personnel preferred
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge of government specifications for Quality Assurance programs
- Product/operation audits - regulatory audit experience
- FAA ODA Management experience or FAA DER (Designated Engineering Representative) or DAR (Designated Airworthiness Representative) experience preferred; experience supervising DERs or DARs required.
