Vice President, Business Development & Onsite Programs
Location: Norfolk, VA (Hybrid Considered)
Overview:
A prominent player in the ship repair and industrial fabrication industry is seeking an experienced Vice President to lead and expand its onsite programs division. This role oversees industrial repair and fabrication operations at customer sites across the U.S., with a focus on growing the division through strategic business development, operational excellence, and workforce readiness.
Key Responsibilities:
Business Development & Sales:
- Develop and implement scalable growth strategies for commercial and government markets, including defense, energy, and industrial sectors.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities to expand market presence while strengthening existing client relationships.
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, production, and operations) to develop joint opportunities and deliver comprehensive solutions to customers.
- Represent the company at trade shows and industry events, contributing to marketing and branding efforts.
- Oversee contract negotiation, administration, and lifecycle management, ensuring compliance with legal and customer requirements.
Operational Leadership:
- Lead a multidisciplinary team to manage customer site repair projects, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule objectives are met.
- Oversee project planning, budgeting, and execution, including resource allocation, subcontractor management, and adherence to schedules.
- Ensure coordination between production, QA, safety, and support teams to optimize operations and meet customer expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement in operational processes, project management tools, and team performance.
Strategic Leadership:
- Serve as part of the senior executive team, contributing to the development and execution of the company's long-term strategic goals.
- Build and maintain a skilled workforce ready for rapid deployment, meeting current and future demands of customers in diverse industries.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field required; advanced degrees or equivalent experience in technical industries preferred.
- Proven track record in business development, sales, or operational leadership, ideally in ship repair, industrial fabrication, or field machining.
- Strong financial acumen with experience in contract management, budget oversight, and driving profitability.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills, with the ability to foster teamwork across departments.
- Ability to travel regularly (up to 50%).
