The Team Leader - Air Freight (Pharma Specialist) will oversee air freight operations with a focus on pharmaceutical products. You will lead a team of logistics professionals, ensuring smooth coordination, regulatory compliance, and exceptional service for our pharma clients. This role involves managing end-to-end operations for air shipments, implementing best practices in pharma logistics, and collaborating with clients, airlines, and regulatory agencies to uphold quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of air freight coordinators and specialists, ensuring a high level of team engagement and performance.
- Allocate workload and resources efficiently within the team to meet service level agreements (SLAs) and client expectations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, set objectives, and support team members' professional growth.
Air Freight Operations for Pharma Shipments:
- Oversee the handling of air freight shipments for pharmaceutical clients, ensuring compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and other regulatory standards.
- Manage the booking, routing, and tracking of temperature-sensitive cargo to prevent product degradation.
- Coordinate closely with airlines and partners to secure capacity on routes that maintain the integrity of pharma shipments.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
- Ensure adherence to all relevant national and international pharmaceutical transport regulations, including GDP, IATA, and EU requirements.
- Oversee the preparation and review of necessary documents (e.g., Airway Bills, temperature logs, handling instructions) to ensure shipment compliance.
- Develop and implement procedures to monitor the integrity of temperature-controlled shipments and respond to any deviations proactively.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as the primary point of contact for key pharmaceutical clients, providing timely updates, addressing inquiries, and ensuring their specific handling needs are met.
- Understand client requirements for pharma logistics and customize solutions to align with client standards.
- Manage escalations efficiently, working with clients to resolve issues and continuously improve service quality.
Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of pharma air freight operations.
- Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in pharma logistics to integrate into team practices.
- Support initiatives to enhance temperature monitoring, real-time tracking, and data analysis to meet evolving client and regulatory expectations.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Monitor and analyse KPIs, including on-time delivery, cost, and quality metrics, to ensure continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate records in logistics management systems and generate reports for internal and client-facing use.
- Provide management with insights into team performance and propose solutions for operational challenges.
