With a significant presence across Europe, Asia, and the Americas, they are seeking a Senior Buyer with extensive experience in steel procurement to lead strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Sourcing: Lead the end-to-end procurement process for steel, ensuring alignment with company goals and global sourcing strategies.
- Supplier Management: Develop, manage, and optimise relationships with key steel suppliers, negotiating terms, pricing, and delivery schedules to meet operational needs and ensure supply chain continuity.
- Cost Optimisation: Identify cost-saving opportunities in procurement, driving efficiency through market analysis, bench-marking, and innovative sourcing strategies.
- Market Analysis: Stay informed of global market trends in steel, including supply, demand, and price fluctuations. Proactively mitigate risks associated with market volatility.
- Contract Negotiation: Oversee contract negotiations with suppliers, ensuring compliance with quality, delivery, and price expectations while managing risks related to global trade.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams such as production, logistics, and finance to align procurement activities with overall business goals.
- Inventory Management: Manage inventory levels to meet production demands while minimising excess inventory and associated carrying costs.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to all regulatory, environmental, and sustainability requirements, both locally and globally, for steel procurement.
- Vendor Performance Monitoring: Regularly evaluate supplier performance in terms of quality, cost, and delivery times, ensuring continuous improvement and effective supplier collaboration.
- Global Coordination: Collaborate with global procurement teams to leverage the company's global scale, ensuring the best possible terms and solutions in steel sourcing.
Requirements:
- Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement, with a strong focus on steel and raw materials in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the steel industry, including product types, supply markets, and cost drivers.
- Negotiation Skills: Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and secure favourable terms with suppliers.
- Analytical Skills: Strong capability to analyse market trends and apply data-driven decision-making to procurement strategies.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and German.
