Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Buyer to join our dynamic team within the automotive industry in Waterville, Maine. The Senior Buyer will be responsible for managing the procurement of goods and services, developing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality materials at competitive prices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the automotive supply chain, excellent negotiation skills, and a strong commitment to driving cost-saving initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the procurement process for a variety of automotive components, parts, and raw materials, ensuring alignment with production schedules and operational needs.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, both domestically and internationally, to secure the best possible pricing, quality, and delivery terms.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions while adhering to company policies.
- Monitor inventory levels to ensure sufficient stock is maintained without over-purchasing.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and quality assurance, to identify sourcing needs and resolve issues related to procurement and supply chain.
- Evaluate supplier performance through audits, assessments, and feedback, and work to resolve any supplier-related issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Conduct market analysis to identify new suppliers, evaluate market trends, and stay updated on technological advancements within the automotive industry.
- Work closely with the finance department to ensure budget compliance and accurate forecasting of procurement expenses.
- Track and report on key performance metrics related to procurement activities, including cost savings, delivery performance, and supplier quality.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement or buying within the automotive industry, with at least 2 years in a senior or lead buyer role.
- Strong knowledge of automotive manufacturing processes, parts sourcing, and supply chain management.
- Proven ability to negotiate effectively with suppliers and achieve cost savings while maintaining quality standards.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and procurement software.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess market trends, supplier capabilities, and cost drivers.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks simultaneously, and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work on-site in Waterville, Maine.
