About the Role
Our multinational freight forwarding company is seeking a skilled and strategic Procurement Manager specializing in Airfreight Logistics. This remote role, based in the Netherlands, will focus on managing and optimizing airfreight procurement activities, fostering key supplier relationships, and ensuring cost-effective and reliable service across the global supply chain. As Procurement Manager, you will play a vital role in strengthening our airfreight logistics capabilities to support our customers' diverse and evolving needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Airfreight Procurement Strategy: Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive procurement strategy for airfreight services that aligns with the company's goals and ensures cost optimization, service reliability, and risk mitigation.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Establish and maintain strong relationships with key airfreight carriers, negotiating favorable terms, service agreements, and capacity commitments to meet global logistics needs.
- Cost Analysis & Optimization: Conduct ongoing analysis of airfreight market trends, pricing, and capacity to identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining high service standards.
- Contract Management: Negotiate, execute, and manage contracts with airfreight suppliers, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Risk Management: Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to secure airfreight capacity during peak periods, manage geopolitical risks, and maintain business continuity.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the operations, sales, finance, and customer service teams to align on capacity needs, pricing, and service requirements. Support customer-specific projects and initiatives where specialized airfreight solutions are required.
- Market Analysis & Trend Monitoring: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging best practices in airfreight logistics to inform procurement strategies and decision-making.
- Data-Driven Decision Making: Leverage data analytics tools to monitor airfreight performance metrics, ensuring that key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost, quality, and delivery times meet the company's high standards.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Logistics, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CIPS, IATA, FIATA) are a plus.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement or category management within airfreight logistics or the freight forwarding industry.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in procurement and logistics software (e.g., SAP, Oracle Transportation Management, CargoWise) and data analysis tools.
- Analytical & Negotiation Skills: Strong analytical abilities, with a proven track record in cost analysis, negotiation, and supplier performance management.
- Market Knowledge: Deep understanding of the airfreight market, including carrier networks, pricing structures, regulatory requirements, and seasonal capacity variations.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across regions and functions.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Dutch or other European languages is an advantage.
