About the Role:
I am seeking an experienced and strategic Regional Logistics Director to lead and optimise logistics operations across Germany. This role is responsible for overseeing supply chain efficiency, transportation, warehousing, and distribution strategies to enhance operational performance and drive cost savings. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics management, supply chain strategy, and team leadership within a heavy manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and execute regional logistics and distribution strategies aligned with business goals.
* Oversee warehousing, transportation, and inventory management to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
* Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing logistics team across multiple locations.
* Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational performance and reduce costs.
* Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including supply chain, procurement, and sales teams, to optimise logistics processes.
* Ensure compliance with regional and international trade regulations, customs laws, and environmental standards.
* Develop and manage budgets, forecasts, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to track logistics performance.
* Negotiate contracts and partnerships with transportation providers, warehouses, and third-party logistics (3PL) partners.
* Leverage technology and data analytics to improve supply chain visibility and decision-making.
* Manage risk mitigation strategies, including contingency planning for supply chain disruptions.
Key Qualifications:
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field.
* 10+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
* Strong knowledge of warehousing, transportation, inventory control, and distribution networks.
* Proven track record of optimising logistics operations and driving cost reductions.
* Experience managing multi-site operations across a region.
* Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong analytical skills with the ability to leverage data for decision-making.
* Proficiency in logistics and supply chain software (ERP, WMS, TMS).
* Knowledge of regulatory compliance in logistics and international trade.
* Fluency in German is essential.
