A leading food and beverage manufacturer is a seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to oversee quality at their facility located in the Washington, D.C. area.
Scope of Responsibilities:
- Ensure compliance with external standards, including BRC (or equivalent GFSI), RFA, Kosher, and Organic standards.
- Adhere to food safety legislation and manage external compliance relationships.
- Maintain plant performance in line with internal policies.
- Develop and oversee quality systems and standards for both the plant and suppliers.
- Address consumer and customer complaints and manage food safety control systems.
- Ensure product quality specifications are met.
- Create and manage risk assessments and method statements.
- Oversee on-site contractors and lead the site leadership program for safety.
- Administer internal audit programs to ensure compliance with external standards and internal quality standards.
- Collaborate with CI and Training Managers to support and audit training programs.
- Coach and develop direct reports.
Desired Qualifications:
- 5-7 years' experience in FMCG.
- Degree in Quality/Food Science or related field.
- At least 5 years with GFSI standards.
- Experience with food processing regulations.
- Audit qualification preferred.
- Strong relationship-building with external bodies.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and people leadership skills.
- CI mindset, adaptable, and proactive.
- Strong numeracy and financial literacy.
- Exceptional report writing and communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership and influence.
- Improvement-related certification (e.g., Lean Six Sigma) is desirable.
