Overview:
We are looking for a dynamic Fabrication Quality Assurance Supervisor to join the team of a growing meat production plant. This organization is committed to their values and maintaining their culture without sacrificing the quality of their products.
The Fabrication QA Supervisor is responsible for overseeing Quality processes within the meat production facility, ensuring that all products meet Safety, Quality, and Regulatory standards. This role includes monitoring fabrication processes, conducting inspections, and implementing quality control protocols to ensure product integrity from slaughter to packaging.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will be responsible for:
- Oversee daily operations of the Quality Assurance department, working closely with USDA/FSIS authorities, customer representatives, and auditors.
- Maintain and implement regulatory documents, product specifications, and quality assurance records.
- Monitor and enforce quality programs for manufactured products.
- Define acceptance criteria and manage nonconformance issues.
- Ensure all products meet or exceed customer quality standards.
- Collaborate with management and stakeholders to align quality initiatives with production schedules.
- Analyze quality data and report findings to relevant personnel.
- Lead the QA team, fostering positive employee relations.
- Coordinate with government agencies and auditors for compliance.
- Manage staffing, scheduling, and training for QA employees.
- Participate in management meetings and conduct line meetings with QA staff.
The Quality Assurance Supervisor will have the following qualification:
- 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance / Food Safety in the meat industry or Bachelor of Science in the following disciplines: Biology, Microbiology, Food Science, Animal Science, or other biological sciences. Bachelor's degree in other areas will be considered.
- HACCP certification.
- SQF certification.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English and Spanish (read, write, and speak).
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities desired for the Quality Assurance Supervisor:
- Strong understanding of HACCP, GMPs, and SSOPs.
- Practical knowledge of FSIS regulations for meat products.
- In-depth knowledge of plant sanitation practices.
- Familiarity with beef slaughter, fabrication, ground beef production, rendering, and animal welfare.
- Knowledge of microbiology, aseptic sampling, sampling plans, and laboratory practices.
