Position Summary:
The Purchasing Manager will be responsible for coordinating all activities and individuals involved with purchasing, invoicing, and managing delivery of materials, goods, and services. This will include developing purchasing strategies, negotiating pricing, and ensuring timely delivery of supply. The Purchasing Manager will also be responsible for leading a team of direct reports within the purchasing function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, implement, and maintain purchasing policies and procedures to optimize efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Creates and manages purchase orders, invoice discrepancies, and forecasts. Ensures all suppliers have consistent forecast visibility and adequate capacity.
- Responsible for timely delivery of materials, goods, and services to ensure production schedules are met.
- Collaborate with other departments, such as finance and inventory management, to forecast demand and ensure a smooth supply chain.
- Monitor industry trends and economic indicators to anticipate changes that may affect procurement strategies.
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and other important data.
- Develop and manage the purchasing department's budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
- Lead and develop the purchasing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional growth.
- Leadership of cross functional teams in support of cost, quality, and delivery metrics
Competencies Include:
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Manager or in a similar role in procurement or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of procurement and vendor management practices.
- Excellent negotiation, leadership, and decision-making skills.
- Proficiency in purchasing and supply chain management software.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Qualifications Include:
- High School Diploma required
- Bachelor's degree: degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, or other related business discipline preferred
- 5 years of experience in purchasing responsibilities within a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience leading a team of direct reports within a purchasing or procurement function.
