JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Purchasing Manager, this role is responsible for overseeing the procurement process to ensure the timely and efficient acquisition of goods and services. The position requires strong attention to detail, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal teams and external suppliers. The Purchasing Category Specialist will be responsible for supplier sourcing, contract negotiations, inventory management, and ensuring adherence to company policies and industry regulations. This role plays a key part in cost optimization, risk management, and maintaining a streamlined supply chain.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identify, evaluate, and develop suppliers, including international sourcing.
Manage cost control, change control, and parts/service support for procured goods and services.
Oversee assigned commodities and implement effective supply chain strategies.
Develop and execute contracting strategies for goods and services.
Administer and enforce supply agreements while ensuring compliance with company policies.
Ensure all contract administration processes are executed efficiently and professionally.
Address and resolve CSR and STR cases promptly.
Conduct cost analysis and evaluate supplier cost impact assessments.
Assist with purchasing administrative tasks, including but not limited to:
Setting up LN parts, creating PDRs, and processing approved cost changes.
Updating LN parts, supporting PMO/PLM functions, and liaising with OE engineering.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Understanding of the commercial truck/automotive industry.
Ability to perform financial analysis, supplier selection, and approval processes.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Technical proficiency related to the goods or services being procured.
Proficiency in MS Office applications.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in procurement or supply chain management.
3-5 years of procurement or supply chain experience without a degree.
