Overview:
This role is responsible for authoring Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and related label content for specific products at multiple facilities, as well as managing computer-based training curriculum and assignments. This role operates within the Environmental Health and Safety department to ensure compliance with hazard communication and chemical control regulations. Additionally, it supports the Product Compliance Manager in driving hazard communication priorities and vision within the organization. The position utilizes internal ERP operating systems and 3E Generate (MSDGen) authoring software for integration of organizational processes and data.
Responsibilities:
- Authoring Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and related label content for products at multiple facilities.
- Managing curriculum, content, and assignments for computer-based training at both facilities.
- Working within the Environmental Health and Safety department to ensure compliance with hazard communication and chemical control regulations.
- Assisting the Product Compliance Manager in driving hazard communication priorities and vision within the organization.
- Utilizing internal ERP operating systems and 3E Generate (MSDGen) authoring software for integration of organizational processes and data.
- Grouping prescribed required training for onboarding of new employees.
- Administering monthly required training to specific plants.
- Running reports from the training database and communicating training gaps to all levels within the organization.
Position Requirements:
- BS Degree in Chemistry preferred; minimum 2-year Associate Degree in Environmental / Regulatory Compliance, Industrial Hygiene, or related field considered.
- 5+ years of experience in regulatory system administration, product compliance, product stewardship, or EH&S field in the Chemical manufacturing industry, with at least 5 years in direct support of manufacturing locations.
- Proficiency in SDS authoring software, preferably 3E Generate (MSDGen), including data input, system organization & utilization, data retrieval, and training others on software usage.
- Demonstrated experience with product compliance systems and related software applications in a global organization preferred.
- Technical knowledge and understanding of TSCA & ECHA, Product Compliance, Global Harmonization (GHS), Safety Data Sheets (SDS), multimodal transportation (DOT, IMDG, IATA), and CAS Registry numbering.
- Ability to build business partnerships across functional groups and lead a project or technical team.
- Knowledge of computer-based training systems and experience in developing/assigning computer-based work, as well as tracking and reporting completed performance.
- Ability to Present Complex Topics: Proficiency in presenting complex topics verbally and in written form concisely. Experience in writing technical reports is essential.
- Effective Interpersonal Skills: Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels within an organization.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is required. Extensive understanding and familiarity with SDS software systems, particularly 3E Generate (MSDGen), as well as computer-based training systems, is necessary.
- Occasional Travel: Some occasional domestic travel (automobile and/or air) will be required, accounting for less than 10% of work time. A valid driver's license is necessary.
Essential Functions:
- Author, monitor, and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and labeling using MSDGen software system
- Support creation and maintenance of data for compliance with chemical and hazard communication regulations, determining appropriate hazard classification and SDS phrases for products.
- Maintain documents via the EHS product compliance MS SharePoint site.
- Collaborate with lab personnel and the Product Compliance Manager to establish testing protocols.
- Apply Product Safety regulations to products.
- Interact effectively with internal technical resources and outside consultants for strategic input related to product management.
- Ensure compliance with market-specific applications in sensitive end-use applications.
- Oversee classification aspects of product classifications and country registrations.
- Track changes in global registration requirements, ensuring proposed changes are identified and implemented by regulatory deadlines.
- Collaborate with Technical, Operations, and Sales to ensure product work family principles and practices throughout the product life cycle.
- Assist with completing product questionnaires from customers to support sales personnel.
- Complete Product Compliance Statements to meet customer requests.
- Responsible for internal compliance audits.
- Identify, solve, and document product compliance issues, including determining any required reporting to agencies.
