The Procurement Specialist is responsible for the procurement and purchase of direct materials. Responsibilities also include order accuracy, on time in full (OTIF) receipt and material availability. The Procurement Specialist must be familiar with functional demands, procurement compliance and budget adherence. This position reports to the Procurement Director.
This role is based in Atlanta, GA and will operate on a 3-day-a-week Hybrid schedule.
Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist:
- Partner with Planning, Logistics and Production departments to coordinate production runs based on customer needs and material availability
- Foster a partnership with Planning, Logistics, R&D, Package Engineering, Technical Services and Quality departments to ensure successful change management transitions
- Partner with external suppliers and internal groups to procure and purchase materials
- Manage investigations associated to vendor/supplier complaints and non-conformances
- Identify risk and vulnerabilities related to material availability
- Monitor commodity market trends and industry behavior through effective data analysis
- Strive to identify alternative opportunities for performance improvement and cost reduction
- Closely monitor Commercial demand forecasting to manage direct materials' availability
- Perform a monthly inventory write off cost analysis and distribute to stakeholders
- Effectively mitigate supply disruption threats through creative solutions
- Effective and efficient comparative analysis of supplier bid submissions
- Present comparative data analysis to management
- Handle documentation request communications for new and/or existing vendors
Qualifications of the Procurement Specialist:
- Strong computer proficiency including Word, Power Point and Excel required
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Finance or Business preferred
- 1-3+ years of purchasing experience preferred
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
- Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Consumer Services industry experience is a huge plus
- Proven ability to identify and execute process improvements
- Excellent professional communication skills, written and oral
- Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and communicate with team members and colleagues at all levels of the organization
- Project work experience leading to understanding audience perspective
- Strong initiative to learn and take on challenges
