Job Description: The Operational Technology Engineer is responsible for providing support for all levels of the Process Control Network (PCN) Level 1-3, including controls systems networking, servers, and workstations. The role involves working with all production sites to maintain, upgrade, patch, and ensure cybersecurity for DCS/PLC proprietary systems.
Responsibilities:
- Ensuring that health and safety are the number one priority by complying with all safe work practices, policies, and processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Proactively managing the controls production environment and taking preventative actions to avoid business-impacting incidents; developing processes to maintain backups.
- Auditing and providing recommendations for improvements to the PCN to ensure optimal performance and leading improvement initiatives.
- Specifying, configuring, and managing all PCN equipment, including servers, switches, domain controllers, routers, firewalls, NAS, VPN, thin clients, KVM, and VM.
- Working as part of the controls systems team to ensure operational readiness of company sites.
- Providing OT engineering support to the plant maintenance department on an as-needed basis and coordinating planning for scheduled major systems outages.
- Developing multi-year strategies to keep control systems and the PCN up to date with current OEM hardware and software.
- Upgrading sites' PCNs to ensure compliance with controls OEM and industry standards.
- Assisting in the development of capital project lists for facilities and helping to develop budget costs for such projects.
- Maintaining PCN diagrams following the ISA/Purdue models.
- Installing and maintaining OT systems for secure remote access (SRA) and asset management/cybersecurity.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology, or Information Technology required. Alternative combinations of education and experience may be accepted in lieu of a degree.
- 10-15 years of relevant experience.
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) required.
- Rockwell Control Network training required.
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Cybersecurity Entry-level Technician (PCCET) required.
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) preferred.
- Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Administrator (PCNSA) preferred.
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity and industrial control system standards (ISA, NIST).
- Working knowledge of Linux, Microsoft Server/Windows, PowerShell, VM software (Hyper-V/VMware), Active Directory, Thin Client Management, SQL.
- Working knowledge of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, Profibus, OPC UA/DA, FTP, SFTP.
- Understanding of OEM software such as Factory Talk, DeltaV, Wonderware, Canary, ABB.
- Experience in network design engineering and maintenance.
- Ability to travel 10%-25%.
