Instrumentation & Electrical Technician II

The I&E Technician is responsible for maintaining, calibrating, troubleshooting, and repairing instrumentation and electrical systems within a gas facility. This includes working on equipment such as pressure and temperature transmitters, gas chromatographs, flow meters, electrical control systems, and safety systems. The role involves ensuring that all instruments and electrical systems are functioning optimally, in compliance with safety standards, and supporting the smooth operation of the plant.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM), calibration, and troubleshooting on instrumentation and electrical systems, including control systems, sensors, and field equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment faults, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and RTUs.
- Monitor and analyze electrical and instrumentation equipment performance, ensuring compliance with plant standards.
- Participate in the installation of new systems or upgrades, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and gas industry regulations.
- Perform periodic testing and calibration of instruments and electrical systems, ensuring equipment operates within specifications.
- Support routine inspections and calibrations of gas detection systems, pressure relief valves, and other critical safety equipment.
- Work closely with other technical teams such as operations, mechanical, and control engineers to ensure optimal performance of plant equipment.
- Follow all safety guidelines and procedures, ensuring that electrical and instrumentation activities are conducted safely and in compliance with industry standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Electrical or Instrumentation Engineering, or equivalent technical certification is preferred.
- Proficiency in the use of diagnostic tools, multimeters, oscilloscopes, and other electrical testing equipment.
- Strong understanding of safety standards, including NFPA, NEC, and relevant industry guidelines.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and instrumentation schematics and manuals.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in a related field, preferably in the oil, gas, or petrochemical industry.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation, control systems, and safety regulations.
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA systems, DCS, and HMI systems.
