Job Opportunity: Environmental Manager
Location: Greater York/Hanover, PA Area
Company Overview:
We are an industry-leading chemical manufacturer dedicated to safety and environmental sustainability. We are seeking an experienced EHS Manager to lead our efforts in achieving and maintaining our EHS goals at our facility in the Greater York/Hanover area.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cultivate a proactive safety culture and ensure compliance with regulations by developing and implementing procedures, conducting audits, and overseeing documentation.
- Serve as the primary liaison with local regulators regarding site safety and environmental compliance, ensuring timely completion of all regulatory reporting.
- Lead the development and delivery of employee training programs on health, safety, and environmental topics, while maintaining comprehensive training records.
- Address safety concerns promptly and evaluate new products, materials, and processes to ensure effective hazard communication and safety protocols.
- Coordinate incident analysis and follow up on action plans to prevent future occurrences; manage document control in accordance with ISO/Corporate standards using SharePoint.
- Stay informed on corporate EHSQ standards, implementing improvements and training staff on any updates.
- Manage the emergency response program and medical monitoring initiatives per corporate guidelines and the plant's Integrated Contingency Plan.
- Develop and oversee site Industrial Hygiene protocols, including the personal protective equipment program.
- Lead initiatives for waste minimization and Behavioral Safety Programs, promoting sustainable practices and positive reinforcement.
- Collaborate with production teams to enhance health, safety, environmental, and quality processes, and engage in hands-on laboratory work as required.
- Air Permitting, Waste Water, and Hazardous Chemical Waste responsibility
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Science, H&S Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience in a chemical/manufacturing environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and Pennsylvania regulations is preferred.
- Experience with lab bench work is a plus.
- Familiarity with Pennsylvania EPA requirements.
- 5+ years of EHS experience in a manufacturing environment, with a demonstrated leadership ability.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with experience in developing and reviewing procedures.
- Proven ability to effectively manage time and prioritize multiple tasks.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and SAP.
