Position Summary:
As the Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our client's expansion across Germany. You'll leverage your experience in logistics, particularly in air and ocean freight, to identify and secure new business opportunities. This is a hands-on role requiring a proactive approach to sales, focusing on building a solid client base within hi-tech, automotive, pharmaceutical, and general cargo sectors. The ideal candidate will bring a "hunter" mentality and possess a strong foundation in logistics, ideally from a commercial or operational background, looking to transition to a more sales-driven role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities within the German market, with a focus on hi-tech, automotive, pharmaceutical, and general cargo clients.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to achieve and exceed revenue targets, contributing to the overall growth of the business.
- Establish and maintain strong client relationships, understanding their logistics needs and providing tailored freight forwarding solutions.
- Collaborate with the operational team to ensure smooth transitions and high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Continuously analyse market trends and competitor activities to identify new growth opportunities.
- Participate in networking events, industry conferences, and trade shows to enhance the company's visibility and attract potential clients.
Qualifications:
- Experience: At least 3+ years in the logistics or freight forwarding industry, with a focus on business development or sales preferred. Candidates with operational experience in air or ocean freight looking to move into a commercial role will also be considered.
- Skills: Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets; strong negotiation and relationship-building skills; entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive, "hunter" approach to sales.
- Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with the logistics needs of hi-tech, automotive, pharmaceutical, or general cargo customers is highly desirable.
- Language: Proficiency in both German and English is required.
