Position Overview:
As an Automation Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing control systems for a variety of industrial equipment. This role involves working closely with mechanical and electrical teams to ensure smooth integration of automation technologies while adhering to safety and quality standards. You will also support the installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of control systems across the facility, driving continuous improvements in performance and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and configure control panels and systems, including load calculations and ensuring compliance with safety and health regulations.
- Develop and program RS Logix software for industrial equipment and create efficient solutions using Rockwell and Siemens PLCs, HMI, and robotic systems.
- Commission and optimize servo controllers and closed-loop electro-hydraulic systems.
- Design control systems for mechanical and hydraulic equipment, including the integration of compressor and pump control systems.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical issues and perform diagnostic assessments to support maintenance teams.
- Support the design and functionality of tools and fixtures used in production processes, ensuring they meet operational needs.
- Oversee the installation and commissioning of PLC-based hardware and software, ensuring projects meet both internal and industry standards.
- Contribute to the identification of technologies and innovations for new engineering projects to improve manufacturing workflows.
- Lead the procurement and integration of automation controls for production equipment, collaborating with vendors and suppliers as necessary.
- Maintain and develop electrical systems to ensure safety and enhance operational efficiency.
- Continuously improve the quality and performance of the manufacturing processes, identifying bottlenecks and opportunities for optimization.
- Create and maintain standards, manuals, procedures, and other technical documentation for systems and projects.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in controls engineering, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong background in PLC programming (Rockwell/Siemens), HMI, and robotics, with experience in Fanuc and Kuka robots.
- Familiar with RS Logix, VFDs, servo controllers, and closed-loop systems.
- Experience with AutoCAD 2D for electrical schematics and proficient in Microsoft Office for reporting and documentation.
- Knowledge of tooling, material properties, and manufacturing processes, with an understanding of ISO/TS quality standards.
Skills:
- Expertise in Fanuc Teach Pendant & Karel programming languages, Fanuc Visloc, and Onboard Vision systems.
- Ability to read and create electrical schematics using AutoCAD.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot electrical and control systems.
- Comfortable working with various precision measuring and lifting devices, and knowledgeable in general machining practices.
